If you would like to build yourself a house on an empty plot of land, the mortgage for you is a self-build mortgage.

This type of mortgage differs from a standard residential mortgage in that the funds are given to you in stages rather than in a single lump sum.

One of the advantages of building your own home is that you only need to pay stamp duty on the cost of the land, not on any of the building work. You could be saving thousands!
